Fulham Closing In On Deals For Centre Back Pair Calvin Bassey And Mohammed Salisu

Fulham are closing in on securing deals for Calvin Bassey and Mohammed Salisu this week, with both centre backs edging closer to a Premier League move.

The pair will cost Fulham £33m altogether this summer and despite uncertainty at Craven Cottage both deals are expected to be completed within the week.

Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu will return to the Premier League following his side’s relegation last season and he will cost the Cottagers around £15m.

Calvin Bassey on the other hand will cost Fulham £18m and the Ajax defender is expected to complete his medicals in the coming days ahead of his move to London.

Ajax boss Maurice Steijn said earlier this week: “I told Calvin Bassey it would be better to leave Ajax”.

“Also because of the money. When he leaves — we can strengthen the squad properly. I have told him this honestly.”

Controversy has been surrounding the club since the beginning of the summer, as Aleksander Mitrovic has caused plenty of drama after trying to force a move away during this transfer window.

Fulham have valued their Serbian striker at around £50m, but with no clubs interested in signing the 28-year-old for that price he has requested to be valued at less by the club to try and leave ahead of next season.

Marco Silva is another who could be on his way out of Fulham this summer, with the manager reportedly considering making the popular move to Saudi Arabia.

The Portuguese boss has a release clause of £6m to leave Fulham, but Saudi side Al Ahly are ready to pay the hefty sum in order to secure the in demand 46-year-old.
