After a forced spell on the sidelines with careless riding and whip bans, Frankie Dettori is back this Saturday with two rides at Newbury.
Two Booked Rides For Frankie Dettori On Saturday as Italian Returns To The Saddle
If you are a horse racing fan, then unless you’ve been in the planet ‘Zog’ you’ll know that Frankie Dettori is hanging up his riding boots at the end of this season – with the Melbourne Cup on November 7th being talked about at his final ride.
It’s already been a season to remember with wins in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket with Chaldean and Soul Sister in the Epsom Oaks, plus Frankie broke through the 80 Royal Ascot winners mark with more successes at this favourite venue last month.
However, it was at Royal Ascot that Frankie also picked up a few bans for careless riding and whip offences – meaning he missed last week’s July Festival and has been out of action for the last few weeks.
The great news for Frankie fans though is he’s back this Saturday with two rides at Newbury as he then gears-up for next Saturday’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and then his final Glorious Goodwood in early August.

Frankie Will Get The Leg-up On Lezoo In The Hackwood Stakes at Newbury
The first ride back for Frankie Dettori will be on LEZOO in the Hackwood Stakes (3:00pm) at Newbury on Saturday (22nd July).
This Ralph Beckett runner is the second top-rated in the field (112) and will be a popular pick now eased back into a Group 3 after running at the top table in the Commonwealth Cup last time (10th of 13).
She landed the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket last September, so is a classy filly on her day, while with just 7 career runs (4 wins) there should be more to come. The Beckett mare also gets a handy weight allowance from the boys and older horses in the race too, which further adds to her chance.
Frankie has ridden Lezoo five times (2 wins) and has two past wins in the Hackwood Stakes (2011 & 2017).
Sweet Memories Will Also Have Frankie Dettori’s Services On Saturday
Horse racing fans will also get a chance to see Mr Dettori in the 4:45pm at Newbury as he rides the Gosden runner Sweet Memories.
The once-raced filly was last in action back in early December at Wolverhampton (4th) but with another 7 months on her back can be expected to have improved for that outing.

Emily Upjohn Frankie’s Expected King George Ride Next Saturday at Ascot
The next big race Frankie can look forward to is the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot next Saturday – where he’s expected to ride Emily Upjohn.
This season’s Coronation Cup winner was last seen running second in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown earlier this month, but could take on this year’s Epsom Derby winner Auguste Rodin and a whole host of other big names that include Hukum, Pyledriver, Desert Crown and King Of Steel.
Frankie has 7 King George wins to his name and is currently tied with Lester Piggott on that haul, so will need one more success on his final ride to become the winning-most jockey in the history of the race.
Emily Upjohn is currently @ 4/1 with Paddy Power for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
