Joao Felix has openly said that he wants a move to Barcelona this summer, after the Atletico Madrid star was told he wouldn’t be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at Chelsea next season.
Felix was hoping that he would be able to stay at Chelsea next season following a loan spell in London, but new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino decided not to make a permanent signing – sending the forward back to Spain.
The 23-year-old returned to Atletico Madrid as pre season began last week, but Felix was seen training separately from the first team squad with the Portuguese international clearly unhappy.
Diego Simeone seemed to confirm that Felix’s days at Atletico are numbered last week, as Antoine Griezmann was handed back the number 7 shirt that was worn by Felix prior to his loan at Chelsea.

Following his clear unrest at Atletico, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Felix desires a move to Barcelona this summer after saying it would be ‘his dream’ to play for Atletico’s rivals.
“Now it’s really important to mention that Joao Felix, in a direct conversation I just had a few minutes ago, told me: ‘I want to go to Barcelona’.
“Joao Felix told me this very clear statement, he added that Barcelona is the biggest dream of his life since he was a kid and it’s his first choice on the market.

“These are the words from Joao Felix, he added at the end of the conversation that if this happens it would be a dream come true.”
Felix signed for Atletico for a record fee of €126m in 2019, but the players’ market value has significantly decreased over the last couple of years after two difficult seasons.
Barcelona could get a deal for Felix over the line by the end of the week, as Atletico have said that the player’s agent Jorge Mendes “knows perfectly the conditions that must be given so that the Portuguese can leave the club”.
