According to reports, Roma are in pole position to sign former Wolves star turned free-agent, Adama Traore, as AC Milan have ended their interest in the 27-year-old.

The Spaniard is out of contract after a 5-year spell at Molineux and a summer move to the Serie A appears to be the most likely outcome.

During the 2022-23 campaign the electric winger made 40 appearances and failed to impress on his return to Wolves, following a loan spell at Barcelona.

Wolves are yet to make a single signing this summer and have lost a host of players, with Ruben Neves, Conor Coady and Nathan Collins all leaving the club.

Manager, Julen Lopetegui guided his side to a 13th place finish last season and will be keen to sign a variety of players to maintain his place in the Midlands.

Adama Traore has attracted interest from both AC Milan and Roma – however AC Milan have reportedly ended their pursuit.

Roma manager, Jose Mourinho, has enjoyed a successful time in Italy following his poor spell at Tottenham Hotspur – winning the Europa Conference League in his opening season.

The Serie A side reached the Europa League final and have already added a host of star names to their squad, including the likes of Evan Ndicka and Houssem Aouar.

AC Milan had shown interest in the Spanish winger after a mixed 2022-23 campaign, where the club finished fourth in a season that failed to reach expectations following Milan’s title winning campaign, last year.

Stefano Poli was unable guide his side to silverware and were swept aside by local rivals, Inter, in the Champions League quarter finals.

One positive to come from the 2022-23 campaign is the development of Portuguese youngster, Rafael Leao, who signed a new deal that – keeping him at the club until 2028.

Despite this poor season, Milan have signed  Christian Pulisic and Loftus-Cheek, which has ended their interest in Traore – leaving Roma as the favourites to land the Spaniard’s signature.
