Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr have been banned from registering new players by FIFA after they failed to pay Leicester City £390,000 in add-ons for the transfer of Ahmed Musa in 2018.

Al-Nassr Banned From Registering Players By FIFA

The club have led the Saudi Pro League charge in signing some of the world’s best players in recent months including signing Cristiano Ronaldo on a £175million-a-year contract earlier this year. However, now they’ve been placed under restrictions by FIFA.

Al-Nassr were ruled to owe Leicester €460,000 (£390,000) by FIFA in 2021 after the Foxes made a complaint. They argued that they had not received the promised add-ons they were due to get once Musa made 40 starts for the side. FIFA agreed with Leicester and insisted the SPL side needed to make the payment otherwise they would be banned from registering new players.

The ban has now reportedly come into effect after Al-Nassr still have not coughed up the payment. As it stands, they will not be able to register any new players for the next three transfer windows.

Marcelo Brozovic is the latest big name to join Al-Nassr so far this summer. However, it may be the last signing for quite some time.

Saudi Arabian sides have completed a number of high profile signings over the last few months, namely bringing Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante to Al-Ittihad, with Al-Hilal looking likely to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to join up with Kalidou Koulibaly and Ruben Neves.
