Arsenal’s head of medical services Gary O’Driscoll is switching London for Manchester and moving up north to work for the Red Devils later this summer.

According to David Ornstein, the move is expected to be completed in the near future and a transition period will occur to help O’Driscoll find a successor to his position at Arsenal.

After joining the Gunners in 2009, the 52-year-old became a prominent figure at the club and was on the verge of joining Liverpool three years ago before opting to remain in north London.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly the man who convinced O’Driscoll to reject Liverpool’s offer in the end and soon after they beat Chelsea 2-1 in the FA Cup final.

Manchester United swooped in with an offer that was ‘too good to refuse’ and he can move closer to his family in the north-west, despite not actively seeking to leave Arsenal at any point.

United have a vacancy in their medical department following the departure of Steve McNally last December, who was replaced by former Liverpool doctor Jim Moxon on an interim basis.

Ornstein reports that there is a chance Moxon could remain part of O’Driscoll’s team at United, who is regarded as one of the best in the field.

Arsenal won four FA Cups during O’Driscoll’s tenure at the club and Erik ten Hag will be hopeful that he can bring a new dynamic to United’s medical staff who are often kept busy with recurring injuries to players like Anthony Martial.
