Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have announced the signing of Liverpool starlet Fabio Carvalho on a season-long loan.

After several weeks of being constantly linked with a move to Germany, Fabio Carvalho has finally completed his loan switch to RB Leipzig.

The attacking midfielder joined Liverpool last summer, and despite a promising start on Merseyside, the move didn’t quite go to plan.

Since December, Carvalho made just five appearances for the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp revealing late-on in the campaign that he may depart on loan for next season.

And that is exactly what has happened, with RB Leipzig confirming the arrival of the Portugal youth international on Friday afternooon.

It had been reported that Leipzig wanted to sign the 20-year-old permanently, however Liverpool persisted with a loan, with multiple outlets now verifying that there is no option to buy.

Leipzig board member for sport Max Eberl expressed his delight at the Carvalho’s arrival in a club statement.

“Fábio Carvalho is a huge talent – the fact that Liverpool signed him recently just proves that. He is quick, agile, full of tricks and creative. He likes to get shots away and can also set his teammates up.” he said.

“We will give Fábio the time he needs to settle in here and to adjust to life in a new country and with a new club. We are looking forward to him improving our attacking game and to have another option in this department.”

Carvalho himself highlighted the importance of gametime and how it was a factor in completing his Bundesliga switch.

“As a young player, it’s a big step for me to move from England to the Bundesliga and RB Leipzig. I’m joining a strong side, one that has been very successful in recent years. Now, I want to help build on this and am looking forward to taking on a new challenge.

“My goal is to play as much as possible, in the league, the cup and especially in the UEFA Champions League. RB Leipzig have a reputation for giving young players these kinds of opportunities, which is why this is the perfect club for me to continue my development at.”
