Fabrizio Romano has all but confirmed Fabio Carvalho’s transfer to RB Leipzig this summer, as the Liverpool starlet is set to make the switch to Germany.

Carvalho will be loaned to RB Leipzig for the season, where Jurgen Klopp hopes the 20-year-old can improve his game before coming back to Anfield next year.

Although Leipzig reportedly wanted to secure Carvalho on a permanent basis, the Liverpool boss refused to let his starlet leave for longer than one season.

The Portuguese forward made just 21 appearances for the Reds last season as he adjusted to life in the Premier League following a transfer from Fulham.

It is no secret that Liverpool struggled in the Premier League last season and Carvalho was perhaps not given as many chances as he would have liked due to the Reds’ tough position in the league.

Unlike Liverpool last season, Leipzig did qualify for the Champions League next year so Carvalho will enjoy his first taste of European football.

As well as the prospect of European football next season, Carvalho should also get more game time for the German side who seemed so keen to bring in the highly rated forward this summer.

There were rumours that Leipzig may offload one of their own young stars in exchange for Carvalho, but it now seems highly unlikely that Dominik Szoboszlai will become a Liverpool player this summer.

Szoboszlai’s release clause is reportedly a fee of around £60.5million, however that clause expires tomorrow so Liverpool could make a lower offer for the 22-year-old should they remain interested.
