Ex-Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has controversially claimed that a Bayern Munich switch for Harry Kane would be a ‘step down’ after the Bundesliga champions submitted a bid for the England skipper.

After Manchester United and Real Madrid looked set to battle it out for Harry Kane, Bayern Munich have now entered the fray. The Bavarians have now become the favourites to sign the England frontman from Tottenham.

News broke on Tuesday that the Bundesliga champions had lodged a £70million bid plus add-ons for Kane, however Sky in Germany are reporting that the bid has been rejected.

The report from Sky claims that Tottenham’s stance remains unchanged, and they will reject any approach for their captain.

Reports of Kane’s possible transfer has raised debates across social media, with many claiming he should remain in the Premier League in order to beat Alan Shearer’s scoring record, whilst others are encouraging an exit so that he has more opportunities to secure silverware.

One person who has been fairly outspoken on the prospect of Kane joining Bayern is ex-Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara.

Speaking on talkSPORT, O’Hara questioned whether a move to Munich would be a ‘step down’ for the England striker.

“Would you rather the Premier League scoring record or a Bundesliga title which you’re almost guaranteed to win? It’s like going to PSG.” he said.

“Do we really care about Bayern Munich over here? We don’t, do we?

“We talk about Real Madrid because it’s Real Madrid, we talk about Barcelona, but we don’t really go on about Bayern Munich.

“I just feel like the Premier League is so big, I kind of almost think like it’s a step down.”
