Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are reportedly looking to hijack Manchester United’s move for Mason Mount, after the Red Devils failed to agree on a fee with Chelsea for his transfer.

After three rejected bids, Manchester United are close to ending their interest in Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, and Bayern Munich are now reportedly set to pounce.

The Red Devils saw their third bid of £55million rejected by Chelsea on Saturday. Now, Erik ten Hag’s side are reportedly looking at signing Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

But where Manchester United fail, Bayern look to succeed.

The Guardian understand that the Bavarians are looking to capitalise on the Red Devils’ failure in their Mount pursuit, and are stepping up their interest in the 24-year-old.

Bayern are said to be hopeful of meeting Chelsea’s £65million valuation of Mount, which would see the midfielder link up with ex-Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.

Mount has just one year left on his contract, and has long been tipped to move away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea desperately need to sell assets in order to comply with Financial Fair Play, after the Blues spent upwards of £600million in the last two transfer windows.

FFP is also an issue for Manchester United, and may be a factor in their failure to sign Mount.

Sky Sports News have claimed that the Red Devils are unlikely to spend a large portion of their budget on one player due to FFP, and especially due to the fact that they have other areas needing strengthening too.

Whether United or Bayern reach an agreement with Chelsea remains to be seen, but Mount’s departure from Stamford Bridge this summer almost looks certain.
