Football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that West Ham are interested in making a move for Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea.

Denis Zakaria’s underwhelming loan spell at Chelsea came to an end last month, with the midfielder returning to his parent club Juventus.

Making just 11 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, it was a move that certainly didn’t go to plan for both the player and the club, as Chelsea finished the Premier League season in 12th place.

Unsurprisingly perhaps, Zakaria is no longer part of the plan in Turin with Juventus reportedly keen to offload the Swiss international.

And according to football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, West Ham are among the clubs tracking the midfielder as they prepare for life without Declan Rice.

Romano revealed the news on his Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

“Understand West Ham are among clubs interested in signing Denis Zakaria.” he tweeted.

“He’s back to Juventus after Chelsea loan.

“West Ham asked for informations on conditions of the deal — but there are many clubs in the race.

“Zakaria is not in Juventus plan for next season.”

Zakaria’s contract with Juventus runs until the summer of 2026, therefore a fee will be required in order for the Hammers to secure his services.

David Moyes is currently in the market for a midfielder, as club captain Rice looks set to depart for either Arsenal or Manchester City.

The East Londoners have been linked to several other midfielders too, including Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.

Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse have also been named as potential midfield targets for the Hammers.
