Leicester City are reportedly close to bringing in Enzo Maresca as their new manager after the Manchester City assistant heavily impressed in interviews.

Enzo Maresca Closes In On Leicester Job

The Italian has spent the season coaching the Cityzens alongside Pep Guardiola, helping them win a monumental treble. It is understood he held talks with the Foxes just hours after Man City lifted the Champions League.

According to reports, the 43-year-old produced an “outstanding” interview which impressed the Leicester hierarchy.

Maresca attracted previous interest from Southampton, but turned an offer down to complete the season with City. He has also recently been linked to the Celtic job, but it looks like former Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is returning to his former club.

Leicester have undergone a lengthy process in their search for a new boss, interviewing plenty of candidates. Interim manager Dean Smith, Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard were all interviewed for the job, but Maresca has seemingly stood out the most.

There’s a lot of work to be done at the club, should Maresca get the job. Seven players have already departed after their contracts expired, and valuable duo James Maddison and Harvey Barnes also look to be on the move. Tottenham have reportedly launched a bid of £50m for the pair.
