Arsenal are reportedly worried that Premier League big-spenders Chelsea may beat them to the signature of long-term transfer target Moises Caicedo this summer.

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are reportedly fearful that they may lose out on Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo to London rivals Chelsea this summer.

The Gunners had a reported £70million bid for the 21-year-old rejected by Brighton in January and he has since penned a new deal with the south coast club.

Arsenal had agreed personal terms with the player, but the Seagulls stopped the move by rejecting the approach, and so, the Gunners thought that they’d be able to return with a similar offer in the summer.

However, Football Transfers are reporting that there are increasing fears that a similar situation to that of Mykhailo Mudryk’s may arise in the summer.

The report claims that Chelsea are pushing hard to complete a deal for the Ecuador international, who they also bid for in January, but were also rejected in their approach.

This is said to have left Arsenal concerned that the Stamford Bridge side will be able to persuade Caicedo to sign by offering more money than what the Gunners are able to.

Another key factor in the player’s move is his agent. Football Transfers understand that Caicedo’s agent is looking to secure more money from the deal, with Chelsea likelier to match these demands, and so he is pushing for the player to join Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Arsenal look to be getting drawn into a similar situation to that of Mudryk’s, who the Gunners held a strong interest in prior to his move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Stamford Bridge in January.
