Erling Haaland Breaks Another Record After Picking Up Double At Premier League’s Annual Awards

Erling Haaland has made Premier League history once again after taking home a double at the league’s annual awards night. He won both Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season, which has never been done before.

The Norwegian has had an exceptional first season in England, and earlier on this month he became the highest-scoring player in a single Premier League season. He surpassed the 34 goals that both Alan Shearer and Andy Cole achieved in their best seasons.

Overall, the 22-year-old has scored 52 goals in 51 matches so far this season. Haaland can still play a potential three games to further add to that tally as the Cityzens chase a monumental treble.

Haaland is receiving plenty of recognition for his record-breaking season, and after winning the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year award in early May, the Premier League themselves have now rewarded him.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward has made history after picking up both the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season.

There wasn’t much doubt that he would win the Player of the Season award, but he also pipped Sven Botman, Moises Caicedo, Alexander Isak, Alexis Mac Allister, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka to the “young” version of the award.

City have had a rich history as of recent with the youngster award, with Phil Foden winning it in the last two seasons.
