Barcelona are preparing to play their final game at the iconic Nou Camp in its current state, with them set to temporarily move to another stadium. But, why are Barcelona moving from the Nou Camp?
Why Are Barcelona Moving From The Nou Camp?
As part of a large-scale revamp, Barca will not be playing at their legendary Nou Camp next season. The £782m overhaul will see more VIP seats added, with the overall capacity increasing to 105,000 from the current 99,354.
Next season, the La Liga champions will play at the city’s Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium which was host to athletics at the 1992. It was also home to Barca’s local rivals Espanyol before they moved to a new ground.
Their temporary home will boast a much smaller capacity of 55,000 meaning a lot of Barca fans will miss out on some big ties next season.
While the revamp will not be fully completed until the 2026/27 season, Barca do hope to return to the Nou Camp in time for the 2024/25 campaign.

They’ll host Mallorca in their farewell game at the iconic Nou Camp on Sunday with all fans being encouraged to wear the club’s famous colours ahead of a poignant mosaic before kick-off.
Barca manager Xavi was speaking ahead of the game.
“Sunday will be an emotional and sad day because we are saying goodbye to what has been our home for many years,” Xavi said in a news conference on Saturday.
“Camp Nou feels like my home. But it is for a good cause, to have an even better stadium where the fans will feel even better. It’s for a common good.”
