Manchester United suffered a major injury blow on Thursday night just nine days before their FA Cup final clash with Manchester City. Brazilian winger Antony was stretchered off in what appeared to be a serious injury in the first half of United’s Premier League clash with Chelsea

In what was a comfortable 4-1 win for the Red Devils they secured Champions League football ahead of next season with just one game to go.

However, the injury to Antony was a concern ahead of the cup final with Man City and the 23-year-old appeared to be in agony as he was carried off the field.

The former Ajax star was on the wrong end of a strong challenge from Trevor Chalobah. Although the Blues defender won the ball, he left Antony in pain who immediately signalled to the bench that he couldn’t continue playing.

It’s a huge concern ahead of the FA Cup final on June 3rd, with the chances of Antony playing suddenly looking low. It could be a fourth season-ending injury for the Red Devils, who also have Lisandro Martinez, Donny van de Beek and Marcel Sabitzer all ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens also have a few injury issues of their own. Aymeric Laporte, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji and Jack Grealish all missed Wednesday’s clash with Brighton due to knocks. While John Stones and Phil Foden had to be replaced with minor issues. Despite that, Laporte and Foden were spotted in training on Thursday.
