MASHADI (system – Richard Hannon, second-time out 2yos, May)
Richard Hannon’s juveniles usually improve considerably for their debut efforts and have a great record at the second time of asking. Since the beginning of 2010, had we backed his two-year-olds having their second start in May we’d have found 117 winners from 521 bets (22.5% strike-rate) for a profit of £92.90 to a £1 level stake at SP. MASHADI showed plenty of promise when narrowly denied by Charlie Appleby’s On Point on his debut and can make the most of his racecourse experience in a field of newcomers.

VICTORY ECHO (system – Maurice Barnes, May)
Since 2017, had we backed all Maurice Barnes-trained runners in the month of May we’d have won 18 of our 114 bets (15.8%) and made a huge profit of £178.63 to a £1 level stake at SP. VICTORY ECHO, landing a course and distance handicap at the end of April, followed by a decent second to Sageburg County at Market Rasen five days ago and makes a quick return in a bid to continue his fine run of form.
BATH 8.10
RAINCLOUD (system – Alice Haynes, handicap debutants)
Alice Haynes is eight from 40 with her handicap debutants and backing them blind would have returned a solid profit of £70.88 to a £1 level stake at SP. RAINCLOUD has run three times in novice company on the all-weather without troubling the judge but the combination of stepping up in trip and a switch to turf may see her getting involved on her handicap debut.
