However, he looks to have been revitalised by a 254-day break and returned to action at Pontefract in April with an eye-catching 18-1 third to Reigning Profit, beaten less than two-lengths and faring best of the runners to come from off the pace. That form looks strong – the winner, second and fifth all won their next starts – and he can return to winning ways from his favourable high draw. MUSSELBURGH JOCKEYS
Backing all of BEN CURTIS‘ mounts at Musselburgh would have found 32 winners from 171 bets (18.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £25.04 to a £1 level stake at SP and he has a fine book of rides at the Scottish venue today. Charlie Johnston’s newcomer ZACHARY (2.00) might be able to contribute some early points in the opening novice event, as can Katie Scott’s NOBLE CAPTAIN (2.30), who could improve in the first-time tongue-tie on his handicap debut. David and Nicola Barron have a ten from 35 (28.6% strike rate) record since the beginning of 2022 (at the time of writing) when booking Curtis to ride and have decent chances with handicappers MERESIDE ANGEL (3.00) as mentioned above and AHAMOMENT (3.30), who may be able to offer more now stepping back in trip. Adam Nichol’s TRAILBLAZER (4.00) got stuck in the mud on his latest outing but showed some fair form over middle distances on the all-weather this winter and may be able to bounce back now stepping up in trip on this better ground. Liam Bailey’s pair FANZONE (4.30) and ESSENICAL (5.05) have fair claims of collecting points in open handicaps. Buy BEN CURTIS in the Musselburgh Jockeys market with Spreadex.
