Paris Saint-Germain boss Christophe Galtier has confirmed that Lionel Messi will start against AC Ajaccio at the weekend after returning from a club-imposed suspension, despite the Argentine having an uncertain future at the club.
Lionel Messi will return to Paris Saint-Germain action this weekend after returning from a club-imposed suspension.
The Argentine was suspended by PSG for two weeks, as well as being fined two weeks worth of wages for taking an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.
Messi responded to his suspension by issuing a public apology to the club and his teammates on Instagram.
“Hello, well, I wanted to make this video after everything that is happening,” he said.
“First of all, I apologise to my teammates, to the club. Honestly, I thought we were going to have a day off after the game, as had been happening in previous weeks.
“I had this trip to Arabia organised and I couldn’t cancel it. It had already cancelled it before.
“I repeat again and apologise for what I did. Here I am, waiting for what the club decides.”
However since returning to PSG training, Messi’s father Jorge released a statement slamming the media’s ‘fake news’ in regards to speculation about his future – further adding fuel to the fire amid his uncertain future in the French capital.
But now, despite all of the drama – PSG boss Christophe Galtier has confirmed that the World Cup winner will start against Ajaccio at the weekend.
