Barcelona Legend Sergio Busquets Announces End Of Illustrious La Liga Career

Sergio Busquets has announced the end of his Barcelona career, with the 34-year-old expected to make the switch for Saudi Arabia at the end of the season. 

It was already known that Busquets was coming to the end of his time at Barca, and it was on Wednesday morning the legend announced that he would be leaving the Nou Camp for good at the end of this year.

Barcelona released a club statement on Wednesday that began: “Sergio Busquets, one of the best players ever to represent the Club, will leave FC Barcelona at the end of the season.”

The Barca captain has played for his boyhood club his whole career and after 18 years at the club, Busquets took to social media in an emotional video to announce his departure.

“It has been an honour, a draw and a source of pride to have been able to wear this badge but everything must come to an end.

“It has been an easy decision but the time has come, thanks to all those people who have accompanied me on this journey, as well as the members and fans.”

Busquets will go down as one of Barcelona’s best ever players, with the midfielder winning almost everything possible at the club in his time in Spain.

The La Liga veteran has won Spain’s top competition eight times and will add a ninth trophy to his collection when he lifts the title again later this season.

As well as eight La Liga titles, Busquets has also won a Champions Leaguethree FIFA Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cup’s, seven Copa Del Rey’s and seven Spanish Super Cups in an illustrious career.

Busquets will make the move to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season, where he will link up with the likes of former rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
