Liverpool remain keen on Aurelien Tchouameni and have made contact with Real Madrid over the possible signing of the Frenchman this summer.

The Reds would even be open to a loan deal if Madrid don’t want to get rid of Tchouameni on a permanent deal.

Jurgen Klopp likely thought that hopes of signing Tchouameni at all were gone after his side missed out on him last summer. But, his first season in the Spanish capital hasn’t gone so well.

Liverpool were chasing the then-Monaco midfielder before, but the French international opted for a staggering £85million move to Madrid instead.

The 23-year-old has been in and out of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans all season, and played just six minutes against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Liverpool could be helped in their efforts to bring Tchouameni to Anfield. Madrid are closing in on one of the Reds’ former targets in Jude Bellingham, and the Borussia Dortmund star is looking likely to sign this summer.

If and when that signing happens, it could open the door for Tchouameni to move on, whether that be a loan deal or permanent.

Missing out on Bellingham may have hurt the Reds at the time, but his expected move to the Spanish capital could play a big part in the Tchouameni deal.

Tchouameni was signed to Madrid in hope of a long-term project for the 23-year-old, but his future is now uncertain.
