Two picks in the Chester Cup and hopefully Calvin has made the right ‘Call’. First up is Call My Bluff, who is a proven course winner and has been handed a lovely draw in 2 and a featherweight of just 8-6. Softer ground is also fine and he’ll be spot-on for this after a fair return run at Newbury (2nd) last month.

Calling The Wind is also worth an interest according to Tony Calvin. This 7 year-old is one of the higher-rated in the field (100) but that is still a fair mark – having been as high as 105 this time last year. Stamina is assured too having run a close third in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot last June over 2m 5 1/2f and softer ground is also okay.
