We have rounded up the best reactions from Twitter as Liverpool fans at Anfield booed the national anthem on the King’s coronation day.
Prior to kick-off against Brentford on Saturday evening, Liverpool fans booed ‘God Save the King’ – the official anthem of the United Kingdom.
Booing the national anthem on Merseyside first came under the spotlight during the 1980s, due to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s ‘managed decline’ of the city.
Failings of the government following the Hillsborough disaster made matters worse and the national anthem has been booed by Liverpool fans at every opportunity in recent history.

Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to the boos:
Obviously Liverpool fans boo the anthem, and for good reason. It's a democratic right to protest, and I believe we should all be protesting at this obscene peacock display of wealth when more than 20% of the nation are living below the poverty line, and kids are going hungry.
