In the latest Newcastle transfer news, the Magpies’ owners are reportedly exploring a move to bring Paris Saint-Germain ace Neymar to St. James’ Park in the summer.

According to a report, Newcastle’s majority shareholders PIF are exploring a move to sign Neymar this summer.

The report comes from 90min, who claim that the Magpies’ owners want to make the Brazilian their marquee signing in the next transfer window, taking advantage of a top four finish and Champions League qualification.

It is also claimed in the report that a move for Cristiano Ronaldo has been discussed by the ownership. However, manager Eddie Howe doesn’t consider the former Manchester United forward a natural fit in his squad.

A move for Neymar makes much more sense though. The club are on the hunt for a left sided forward with the likely departure of Allan Saint-Maximin, and want to upgrade their attacking options ahead of their proposed Champions League campaign.

As previously reported, Paris Saint-Germain are already considering parting ways with Neymar due to another season full of injuries – with Chelsea reportedly being interested.

Fans of the Paris club even camped outside of his house in the French capital, demanding the forward to ‘get lost’.

Neymar is one of PSG’s highest earners, and has been with the club since joining back in 2017.

The Brazil international remains the most expensive player on earth, after the Parisiens secured his move from Barcelona for £198m.

His injury-stricken season has seen him make just 29 appearances for the Ligue 1 leaders this term.

In those appearances though, the forward has still managed to rack up 18 goals and 17 assists – an impressive return.
