SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 NEWMARKET ITV RACING TIPS: The George Boughey look to have an interesting runner here in Perdika, who was last seen running a fine second at Bath last time out. She’s in here off the same mark and this race has been kind to 3 year-olds in recent years – with 6 of the last 9 winning. The Hannon runner Heredia should be better for a break, while CD winner Gale Force Maya was a fair 5th in the race last year and can go well too.

2:50 – Howden Handicap (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 (4yo+) 6f ITV4
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 NEWMARKET ITV RACING TIPS: 4 and 5 year-olds have a good record in this race – winning 90% of the last 10 runnings. With that in mind a chance is take on the Tom Marquand and Ed Walker runner Popmaster. This 4 year-old should be better for a recent run at Newbury at 167 days off and is bac down to his last winning mark of 95. Spirit Of Light in the first-time cheekpieces is another of the bigger-priced runners to respect, as is Silver Samurai for the Marco Botti camp.

SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 NEWMARKET ITV RACING TIPS: We could see a royal runner here in Saga with Frankie Dettori riding. The Gosden runner has been gelded since his last run at York and returns off a 1lb lower mark here too. It’s interesting the cheekpieces are on for the first time too, while with just 9 career runs should still have room for improvement. CD winner Majestic should not be far away either, while the John Quinn entry Empirestateofmind ran a blinder here last month and is back off the same rating.

4:00 – Howden Palace House Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 5f ITV4
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 NEWMARKET ITV RACING TIPS: This could be a straight match-up between the best-rated runners in the field Twilight Calls and Manaccan, with the preference for the former. Ridden by Ryan Moore, this 5 year-old won over this course and distance on his first run back last season and ended last term with a cracking 4th in the G1 King’s Stand Stakes. The drop back into a G3 will help and even gets a handy 3lbs off Manaccan here. Jockey William Buick has ridden the last two winners of this race, including last year for trainer Charles Hills and they try to repeat the feat this year with Equality.

4:40 – Qipco 2000 Guineas Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Colts & Fillies) Cl1 (3yo) 1m ITV4
SPORTSLENS 1-2-3 NEWMARKET ITV RACING TIPS: Onto the main race of the day and it’s a prize the Aidan O’Brien yard have won 10 times in the past. The last of those wins came in 2019, so they are on a three-year dry spell in the race, which is a long time for them. Auguste Rodin can break that run for the Ballydoyle camp and give them their 11th success in this first English Classic of the season.
This well-bred 3 year-old was last seen winning the Vertem Futurity Trophy Stakes at Doncaster back in October and is already around 2/1 for the Epsom Derby next month. Breeding suggests the horse will be even better over the longer trip.
Chaldean, who unseated Frankie Dettori at the gates in the Greenham is the second top-rated in the field, behind the other O’Brien runner Little Big Bear, and could easily bounce back in what will be the jockey’s last ride in the race he’s won three times.
Craven Stakes winner Indestructible can go best of the bigger-priced runners after handling the course well last time on what was his first run back from a wind op.
