Premier League relegation has never been this gut-wrenching for those involved. Looking at the current table, it would appear any of the bottom six teams could be in contention for the drop this year, with West Ham, Wolves and Crystal Palace starting to move clear of the relegation after positive runs.
The same can certainly not be said for both Leeds and Leicester, who shared the spoils on Tuesday in what was billed as a proverbial ‘six-pointer’ in the race for Premier League survival.
Jamie Vardy’s 80th minute strike, his first in 973 minutes across all competitions for the Foxes, ensure that Leeds were condemned to a fourth winless game.
Leicester themselves are now unbeaten in two games for the first time since mid-February, and have, at least temporarily, managed to peel themselves out of the drop zone, albeit having played a game more than their rivals.

Leeds however, moved one step closer to joining Leicester as the holders of a hugely unwanted relegation record. Javi Gracia’s side led for 60 minutes, soaking up a lot of pressure and edging closer towards a first victory in three games, but the eventual stalemate means they have now dropped 20 points from winning positions this term.
20 – Leeds have dropped 20 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, with only Leicester dropping more (22). Only in their relegation season of 2003-04 have the Whites dropped more such points in a single Premier League campaign (22). Gutting. pic.twitter.com/afEz7Npc91

This is second only to their opponents last night Leicester, whose concerning lack of character when on top has seen them let slip 22 points from winning positions.
For a side who were competing for Champions League qualification just two seasons ago, the very real possibility of relegation would have seemed nigh-unfathomable not that long ago.
