BIRDIE BOWERS (system – Catterick 5f handicaps, good to soft or softer going, stall 8 or higher draw)
The runners usually come to the stands’ side at Catterick when the ground is on the soft side, giving high draws an edge. In 5f handicaps on good to soft or softer going (according to race times, not the official verdict), since the start of the 2016 season, those drawn in stall 8 or above are 21 from 163 bets for a profit of £69.88 to a £1 level stake at SP. BIRDIE BOWERS, Spanish Angel and Blackcurrent are the three qualifiers in Catterick’s opener, with preference foe the first-name.
PERTH 2.30
ASHINGTON (system – Mark Walford, hurdles to chase switch)
In-form Mark Walford has a solid record when switching one of his runners from hurdles to fences, scoring with 14 of the 59 qualifiers (23.7%) for a profit of £15.88 to the usual £1 stake. His sole previous qualifier at Perth won at 5-1 and ASHINGTON looks interesting now back over the larger obstacles for the first time since December’s Leicester second to the progressive Bold Endeavour.

MIGHTY MO MISSOURI (system – Series Final Handicap Hurdle, cheekpieces)
Runners in cheekpieces have a good record in this competitive handicap hurdle, landing six of the renewals since 2012 (from 42 qualifiers) for a profit of £82.00. Four fit the bill this year – Ideal Pal, Teescomponentsyess, Saachoandvanzetti and MIGHTY MO MISSOURI, with preference for the last-named who has finished second in his three runs in Ireland since the cheekpieces were introduced.
