It’s been a tough start to Lampard’s return to Chelsea losing his first four games in charge and this news is unlikely to lift the mood around the place.
In what was not a positive Chelsea injury update from the boss, he said “Reece James unavailable. Probably for the season. Mason Mount probably the same. Potential for the last game but probably not.”
James has been sidelined since picking up a hamstring injury in the second-leg of their Champions League quarter-final last week.
Meanwhile Mount has been suffering with an ongoing abdominal issue resulting in surgery.
However there is hope that Mount could potentially feature in the final game of the season when the Blues take on Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away this summer with both Liverpool and Arsenal reportedly interested.
