Story Of The Game
As Spurs’ chances of a top four finish disintegrated, Newcastle’s only got stronger.
The Magpies got off to a perfect start after just 62 seconds when Jacob Murphy converted from close range to open the scoring.
Joelinton then doubled Newcastle’s advantage with a well taken goal. He latched on to a Fabian Schar long ball and rounded Hugo Lloris to score his seventh goal of the season.
Then to make matters even worse for the visitors, Murphy scored his second of the game with a terrific strike from 30 yards out.

Ten minutes later and the hosts had a fourth! Joe Willock played a sublime outside of the foot ball over the Spurs defence leaving Alexander Isak to do what he does best and fire home.
Isak quickly made it a brace and topped off Spurs’ 21 minutes from hell. He received a back-heel pass from Sean Longstaff and he converted brilliantly into the bottom corner.
Half time came and the Magpies were 5-0 up. As the second half got underway, Lloris was taken off by Stellini and replaced by Fraser Forster. The 35-year-old did a better job than Lloris did, and only conceded the one after coming on.
Harry Kane pulled one back for Spurs just after the break to make it 5-1, but it wasn’t enough to force a fight back from Spurs.
Callum Wilson came on in the 66th minute for Newcastle, and just 65 seconds later he found the back of the net t0 make it 6-1 to Howe’s side.
It was another magical day for the Toon Army, and they can surely smell Champions League football now.
