Andrew was among the winners on Thursday with Ziggy’s Phoenix (11-4) and has four picks at Newbury and Exeter on Friday, April 21st. Follow his tips this week and all year round on horse racing betting sites with the lowdown on his latest picks below:
NEWBURY 2.40
MAMAN JOON (system – Amo Racing-owned newcomers)
At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, I’m tipping another Amo Racing-owned newcomer. Persian Dreamer’s 11-4 victory at Newmarket on Wednesday made it 32 winners from 137 runners (23.3% strike-rate) for a profit of £46.25, including four from the last five. MAMAN JOON, a 400,000gns yearling, can keep the ball rolling.
EXETER 5.35
GETAWAY TOM (system – Tom Lacey, first-time cheekpieces, hurdles)
Tom Lacy has a ten from 42 record when using cheekpieces for the first-time for a profit of £23.25 to a £1 level stake at SP. Had we only backed the hurdlers we’d have won seven of our 23 bets and made a profit of £30.75. GETAWAY TOM was well supported at Plumpton on his handicap debut on January 2nd but could only finish a 21-length fourth over the extended 2m4f trip. However, he’s been freshened up since and the headgear, shorter trip and better ground could all help him to get off the mark at the sixth attempt.
EXETER 6.35
WHENITRAINSITPOURS (system – Milton Harris handicappers in first-time tongue-tie)
Milton Harris has a solid record with handicappers in a first-time tongue-tie, scoring with seven of the 29 qualifiers since 2010 for a profit of ÂŁ28.50 to a ÂŁ1 level stake at SP. That profit could have been a lot higher had 14-1 shot Hurricane Vichi not gone down by a head at Lingfield in January. WHENITRAINSITPOURS, third at 11-1 over 2m5.5f at Wincanton last time, should be suited by the stiffer test of stamina.
EXETER 7.05
BRAVEHEART (system – Westerner, first run after a wind op, chases on good to soft or faster going)
Progeny of the sire Westerner have form figures of 42514107112 (4-11) when running over fences on good to soft or faster going on their first start following a wind operation. Backing them blind would have returned a profit of £20.25 to a £1 level stake at SP. That’s obviously a small sample size but it provides encouragement for BRAVEHEART who was a nine-length winner back in October on his only previous visit to Exeter.
