Biggest Premier League Fines This Season
Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton – £100,000 each, 8 April 2023
Tottenham and Brighton were fined £100k each by the FA for failing to ensure that their benches conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.
Both sets of coaching staffs became involved in a scuffle which resulted in both managers Cristian Stellini and Roberto De Zerbi being shown red cards.
Manchester City – £75,000 for behaviour vs Arsenal, 15 February 2023
Man City were fined £75,000 by the FA after the club admitted that it failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 42nd and 64th minutes of February’s 3-1 win against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
In the 42nd minute, referee Anthony Taylor gave a penalty against Ederson despite Eddie Nketiah getting his shot away. Bukayo Saka converted the penalty to level the score at 1-1.
In the 64th minute, City players were furious that Nketiah was not shown a red card after a strong challenge on Ruben Dias and surrounded the referee.

Arsenal – £65,000 for behaviour vs Man City, 15 February 2023
Arsenal players were deemed to have surrounded the referee in the same game after Man City were incorrectly awarded a penalty after Gabriel brought down Erling Haaland and was booked. VAR later reviewed and overturned the decision.
Arsenal – £40,000 for behaviour vs Newcastle United, 3 January 2023
A recurring theme this season, Arsenal were fined £40k by the FA for failing to control their players during a goalless draw with Newcastle United in January.
The Gunners were denied two late penalty shouts and players surrounded referee Andy Madley in stoppage time, who waved away appeals.
Everton – £40,000 for behaviour vs Liverpool, 13 February 2023
Everton were fined £40k by the FA after a ‘mass confrontation’ during February’s 2-0 defeat in the Merseyside Derby to Liverpool.
Chaos erupted after a row broke out between Jordan Pickford and Andy Robertson, whilst Liverpool were fined a slightly less £25k.
Jurgen Klopp – £30,000 for behaviour vs Man City, 16 October 2022
Jurgen Klopp was fined £30k by the FA after confronting an assistant referee in his side’s 1-0 win over Man City in October.
Klopp apologised for his behaviour post-match and agreed with the decision to send him off. He was charged with a breach of an FA rule which covers ‘comments which are improper, which bring the game into disrepute, which are threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting’.
