Manchester United have issued an injury update, confirming that Marcus Rashford will be unavailable for Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final clash against Sevilla as well as a further ‘few games’.

Marcus Rashford has been confirmed to be out of Manchester United‘s Europa League quarter-final clash against Sevilla on Thursday.

The forward was withdrawn in United’s 2-0 win over Everton at the weekend, heading straight down the tunnel for treatment.

It raised instant concern for fans who don’t want to be without their star man in a crucial time of the season.

The club have refused to outline an exact timeframe for his return. They have however, confirmed that the 25-year-old will be out ‘for a few games’.

In a statement from the club, they confirmed Rashford’s absence for the near future.

“Marcus Rashford will be unavailable for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final game against Sevilla because of a muscle injury.

“The forward was withdrawn in the 80th minute of Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League win over Everton at Old Trafford and immediately headed to the dressing room for treatment.

“Subsequent assessment of the injury suggested that Marcus will be unavailable for a few games, but is expected to be back for the season run-in.

“The England international’s absence is a disappointment given his red-hot form this season, with 28 goals in all competitions.

“But there will also be relief about the prospect of his return for important games in the final weeks of the season.”

Rashford has undoubtedly been United’s star man this term with an impressive 28 goals in all competitions.

But now the England international faces a race to be fit for the final few weeks of the campaign.

It comes at a terrible time for Erik ten Hag, as the Red Devils look to secure Champions League qualification.

Just three points clear of Tottenham in fourth place, United fans will be desperate for a quick recovery for Rashford.
