City surprisingly sanctioned a loan deal that seen Cancelo switch to Bayern on deadline day at the end of January. The 28-year-old will return to the Etihad earlier than expected, and he’s able to play. He also recently scored his first goal for the club, and will be full of confidence.

UEFA competitions have different rules to the Premier League, so despite City being his parent club, Cancelo can play against them in Europe.

The Portugal international has opened up on why he moved to Bayern, in a recent interview uploaded to Bayern’s YouTube channel.

“I saw the opportunity to play for a big club like FC Bayern.

“I like new challenges, to prove to people and myself that I can adjust to new situations, regardless of the league or the club. Ultimately I want to show that against all odds and challenges, I can always come back and get stronger.

“Bayern is a club that considers discipline very important; the staff at FC Bayern are very professional – and I can identify with these principles. I am a very competitive player, and I don’t like losing. Never give up – that sums up who I am. Discipline as well, as I am a professional and hardworking footballer with a strong personality.”
