Lionel Messi is once again being linked with a sensational return to Barcelona.
The Paris-Saint-Germain forward is in his second season in France, but his contract comes to an end this summer.
Messi is enjoying his best season yet with the Parisiens, scoring 19 goals and assisting 18 whilst earning the World Cup title with Argentina in the process.
A return to Barca has constantly been tipped however. And now, following his father Jorge meeting with club representatives, star striker Robert Lewandowski has claimed that Messi “belongs to Barcelona”.
“Messi belongs to Barcelona, it’d be incredible to see him back here. We know his place is Barça,” Lewandowski told Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
“I don’t know what’s gonna happen but I hope that next season Messi can play here and we can be together.”

Barca’s President Joan Laporta also spoke to the media about a prospective return for Messi after meeting with this father back in March.
“I met Jorge Messi, we talked about the World Cup and a tribute match for Leo. I’m happy for him.” Laporta stated.
“He’s at PSG right now, so I don’t want to speak about whether or not he could return.”

Blaugrana Vice President Rafa Yuste also opened up on his ambitions to see the Argentine return.
“We’ve been in contact with Leo Messi’s camp. Leo knows how much we appreciate him and I’d love for him to come back.” Yuste said.
“For sure Messi loves Barça and the city, so we hope to find the right conditions to continue his history here.”
