In the latest Chelsea transfer news, the Blues have reportedly held talks with the representatives of Barcelona starlet Gavi over his future.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Chelsea‘s representatives have conducted a meeting with Gavi’s agent in Madrid over the youngster’s future.

The meeting is said to have taken place in Madrid just over three weeks ago.
Christopher Vivell, the Blues’ sporting director, is believed to have led the meeting. His intention was to make Gavi aware of Chelsea’s hopes to sign him in the future and the role he’d play at the club.
It is claimed that a secondary meeting has been scheduled following their productive talks.
The report also states that if Barcelona are unable to free up around £200m of their salary cap before June 30th, Gavi’s contract would be invalid and he would be able to join Chelsea on a free transfer.

Gavi only recently renewed his contract with the Blaugrana.
In September of last year, the starlet penned a new deal with the Catalan club until the summer of 2026.
Since then, however, the La Liga have refused to accept his registration due to Barcelona allegedly exceeding the salary limit.
This has left Gavi with ‘reserve team status’, even being forced to change his number back from 6 to 30.
Chelsea are now looking to take full advantage of the situation. They are said to be hoping to secure his services after attempting a move last summer.
It is said the Blues were willing to pay upwards of £50 million for the Golden Boy winner in the summer, but a move never materialised.
With the mess Barca are in currently though, a transfer is certainly not off the cards. His signing would be a major coup for Todd Boehly and the club.
