TV host James Corden persuaded Chelsea owner Todd Boehly to re-appoint Frank Lampard as interim manager following the sacking of Graham Potter, according to a report.

According to The Sun, James Corden and Todd Boehly have struck up a surprising friendship and the TV star played a role in bringing Frank Lampard back to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues legend managed the club from 2019-2021 and led Chelsea to a fourth place finish and FA Cup final appearance in his first season before being sacked after a poor run of results.

Corden, a West Ham United supporter, offered Boehly his opinion. He is friends with Lampard from the Sky show ‘A League Of Their Own’ – Lampard’s cousin Jamie Redknapp is a team captain.

According to Premier League betting sites, Chelsea are 500/1 to finish in the top four this season and secure a place in next year’s Champions League competition.

Lampard’s return to the dugout ended in a 1-0 loss away at Wolves as Chelsea continued a run of four games without victory. Next up for the Blues is a crucial Champions League knockout clash in Madrid.

The former midfielder faces a monumental task to guide Chelsea through against the reigning champions who sit 11th in the Premier League table, eight points adrift Aston Villa in sixth.
