The most up-to-date Tottenham injury update ahead of their crucial clash Brighton this weekend provides little hope for their long-term absentees, but Richarlison’s return to the squad may come sooner than expected.

Tottenham’s Champions League hopes took another crushing blow last time out as they were held to a second consecutive draw by another relegation-threatened side.

They return to North London for the first time in nearly a month as they welcome a high-flying Brighton side on Saturday afternoon, who have the potential to leapfrog Spurs should they capitalise on their two games in hand.

The home will take comfort in the fact that they have won five of the last seven meetings with the Seagulls, including a narrow 1-0 win away on the south coast back in October, although their opponents won here in the repeat of this fixture just over a year ago.

With potentially huge implications for their season resting on this weekend, caretaker manager Cristian Stellini will once again be without a whole host of names, and admitted in his latest Tottenham injury update that very little has changed in their preparation throughout the week.

When questioned over any returning names, he said: “No, no good news about players that come back for the next game.”

Emerson Royal, Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur all remain sidelined with significant injures, while Lucas Moura is also suspended after his horrific challenge on Micheal Keane in his unfortunate three-minute cameo last time out.

However, the Italian did provide some promising news on Richarlison, hinting that although it may be too early for a starting spot, the Brazilian is returning to full fitness.

“We are getting closer with Richarlison – he trained on the pitch but he trained alone.

“Richarlison has started to train on pitch, he is going well. For the next game he could be available.”
