In the latest Chelsea transfer news, the Blues are reportedly plotting a summer move for Benfica’s in-demand forward Goncalo Ramos.

Premier League big spenders Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a move for Benfica’s Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos this summer.

Football Insider has revealed that the forward is seen as an alternative option to Napoli forward Victor Osimhen – who would set the Blues back around £105 million in the summer.

Chelsea aren’t the only club interested in securing the forward’s signature however.

According to reports, Manchester United have identified the 21-year-old as a backup option should they fail to secure the services of Harry Kane in the summer.

Benfica are said to be looking for upwards of £70 million for Ramos, despite the Portugal international having a reported £105 million release clause in his contract with the Primeira Liga giants.

One bonus the Blues may hold is that Ramos is represented by the same agency as on-loan forward Joao Felix.

This means that Chelsea have already had dealings with the Benfica forward’s agency. In turn, it may possibly mean that the London club have already formed a good relationship with the representatives.

Ramos has seen his market value increase dramatically since the start of the 2022/23 season.

In 37 appearances in all competitions, he has notched 25 goals and 10 assists.

The striker made a name for himself at the World Cup in Qatar too.

In his first start at the tournament, in the round-of-16 against Switzerland, Ramos bagged a hat-trick as well as an assist as Portugal advanced to the last eight.

A striker of Ramos’ profile is what Blues fans have been crying out for.

Osimhen seems to be the number one target, but 21-year-old Ramos wouldn’t be a bad option to have at your disposal.
