Simon Jordan has blasted Todd Boehly’s decision to re-appoint Frank Lampard as Chelsea manager, labelling the 44-year-old as “patently unsuccessful”.
Following the departure of Graham Potter as Blues manager on Sunday, the Blues have reportedly offered Frank Lampard terms to lead the club for the remainder of the campaign.
Lampard was Chelsea boss between 2019 and 2021 but was dismissed by previous owner Roman Abramovich after a poor run of form.
He was replaced by German coach Thomas Tuchel and remained out of work for around a year.
The next step in his career saw him move up north, becoming manager of Merseyside club Everton.
After guiding the Toffees to Premier League safety in 2021/22, Lampard lasted just a few months in the role the following season.
Following another poor run of form, Lampard was dismissed in January 2023, eight days shy of being a year in the job.
But the 106 time England international now looks set for a sensational return to Chelsea.
Expected to take Blues training on Thursday, an announcement of Lampard’s re-appointment is expected imminently.

Raised eyebrows from fans and pundits has seen plenty of criticism land at the feet of Boehly, none more than that of talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan.
Simon Jordan on Lampard Re-Appointment
Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, Jordan blasted Boehly’s decision.
“How can you go back to somebody that’s been patently unsuccessful in two incarnations?” Jordan said.
“Frank Lampard wasn’t successful at Chelsea. He had a decent first season, lost the FA Cup final that they perhaps should’ve won.
“They had a pretty strong squad, they signed [Christian] Pulisic during that transfer embargo.
“You then get to that second season, and it wasn’t good enough.”
He continued to damn Chelsea’s decision to re-appoint their club legend.
“If this is the blueprint for an iconic, elite, £2.5 billion club to solve a problem, is to go back to somebody that they need to galvanise a fanbase with then there’s something lacking in their thinking,” Jordan added.
“To me, it’s lightweight, populist thinking.”
