Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has given his opinion on Jadon Sancho’s ‘best position’ in order to get the most from the England star.

The 23-year-old moved from Dortmund to Manchester in 2021, after an impressive spell in the Bundesliga. Contributing to 114 goals in 137 matches, his time in Germany attracted some of Europe’s top clubs but it was the Red Devils who spent £72.9m to sign him.

Sancho’s time in England has not been as fruitful, contributing to 14 goals in 63 appearances and many have doubted his place in the Premier League. The winger has failed to cement his place under Erik ten Hag and even took time away from the squad.

Pundits have been very vocal about the Manchester United star, with the likes of Paul Scholes questioning his ‘best position’ on a football pitch.

Scholes said: “I think he has played in the middle at times as a No.10 and I really don’t see him in that position; I see him on the left-hand side, really. But Marcus Rashford has been in top quality form out there.”

Scholes claiming that Sancho’s best position is on the left-wing may come as a surprise, as the retired England international also claimed that United need a ‘better right-back’ to help the former Dortmund player.

The iconic Manchester United player, who was famously involved in the ‘Class of 92’, played 714 matches under Sir Alex Ferguson – winning 11 Premier League titles. He is widely regarded as one of the best players that Old Trafford has ever witnessed, giving his opinion a lot of validity.

Alongside his claim about Sancho’s best position, the 48-year-old made his thoughts on the United winger’s performances in Manchester very clear.

The United legend said: “Look, he has been nowhere near what everyone thought we were going to get from Dortmund, but it might take a bit of time for him to settle down in the Premier League and get used to the pace of it. His fitness will get better once he starts playing games week-in, week-out.”
