Arsenal ticket outrage is once again sweeping across Twitter this morning, after thousands of fans queued for a chance to watch the Gunners face Wolves in their final home game of the season, only for tickets to sell out in less than five minutes.
Although many twists and turns are to be expected in the title race before the season’s close, a large proportion of Arsenal fans have identified the final home fixture against Wolves on the 28th May, as the day they could secure a first Premier League title in two decades.
That is providing the five point gap between themselves and Manchester City remains the same, although the pair both have tough run-ins, including a potentially title-deciding clash at the Etihad.
Nevertheless, the demand for the Wolves fixture at the end of May has skyrocketed in recent weeks as the Gunners continue building momentum going into the final 10 games.
On ticket re-seller websites such as livefootballtickets.com and seatsnet.com, seats were up for sale for as much as £1,000 prior to the official release on the Arsenal website, but the inevitable wave of touts snapping up in-demand tickets now sees them listed for near-enough £2,000, as of this morning.
The staggering renaissance at the Emirates this season has of course boosted the demand for ticket immeasurably, with the club confirming that the number of ‘Red’ memberships, which allows users access to the ticketing system for match days, has increased by nearly 250% this year.
However, fans have called on the club to do more to prevent touts from purchasing tickets that would otherwise be available. Match-going fans have expressed a deep concern throughout the 22/23 season, with Silver (the upper tier of memberships) and Red members of 20 years saying this is the first season they have been unable to go to a home game.
In a statement released in February, the club said: “The technological enhancements we’ve implemented have already resulted in the blocking of over 25,000 IP addresses for suspicious activity each time we’ve gone on sale to members in recent weeks.
“We expect the security improvements will enable us to identify more misused memberships which would add to the thousands of members we have already banned for ticket touting.”
Fans have taken to Twitter this morning to vent their frustration at the ongoing difficulties in relation to buying tickets, with some fans labelling it an ‘extreme sport.’

Seriously what is the point of being a silver member when you can NEVER get tickets? @Arsenal, it’s crap and a rip-off. Paying for a membership that’s offering zero value

in the queue from 9am on 2 devices (earliest time anyone could enter the queue) all tickets gone by 10:05 – there is still a huge problem with bots, as over 250 tickets are already up for resale for thousands. Genuine fans dont get a look in, sort it out @Arsenal pic.twitter.com/HOTmAkQhG1
