Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Brighton’s Japanese ace Kaoru Mitoma as they look to bolster their attack this summer. Read on for the latest Man United transfer news.

Kaoru Mitoma has been nothing short of a sensation since making his Premier League debut in August.

Once again, Brighton’s recruitment team look to have pulled off a masterclass in scouting and signing the Japanese international.

The 25-year-old joined the Seagulls from Kawasaki Frontale for just £2.7 million back in 2021, and spent last season on loan at Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.

Under Roberto De Zerbi, Mitoma has netted on nine occasions and provided six assists in all competitions.

His form has caught the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs, with a whole host of Premier League sides reportedly interested in the winger.

It’s something that Brighton’s CEO Paul Barber has spoken on, and is prepared for.

“He is so exciting to watch, throwback to old school wingers. He is another player that will be in the spotlight in the next transfer window,” Barber said on Mitoma.

“We’re ready for that and we understand it.”

One of the clubs reportedly interested in acquiring Mitoma’s services is Manchester United.

This comes ahead of the Red Devils’ FA Cup semi-final against Brighton next month, where Erik ten Hag will have the opportunity to watch the Japanese winger in the flesh.

The report has claimed that United are looking to offload Anthony Elanga and Anthony Martial this summer.

Due to this, Mitoma has reportedly been identified as a potential replacement for the Red Devils.

Brighton however, are on the up. The Seagulls are into the FA Cup semi-final, and are chasing European football.

Could this keep the 25-year-old on the south coast, or is a move to Manchester United more suited?
