In the latest Erling Haaland injury news, the Manchester City striker has been forced to withdraw from the Norway squad after picking up an injury to his groin.

He has since returned to his club for further tests on the injury, which Norway say he picked up in City’s 6-0 FA Cup win over Burnley at the weekend. Haaland scored another hat-trick in that game, taking his tally for the last two games to an incredible eight goals.

The 22-year-old will miss his nation’s first two Euro 2024 qualifiers, away to both Spain and Georgia. City fans will hope that he’ll have recovered in time for their first Premier League fixture back, against Liverpool. Pep Guardiola’s side sit eight points behind league leaders Arsenal, with a game in hand. They’ll hope to have their top goalscorer back for the crunching clash.

Haaland scored five goals in the Champions League last-16 win over RB Leipzig last week, and now has 42 goals this season after scoring another hat-trick at the weekend.

Norway FA released a statement on the Erling Haaland injury news.

“Erling Braut Haaland had some pain in his groin after the match against Burnley.

“We hoped that this was just a familiarity that would carry over to Saturday, but after doing tests and examinations yesterday, it became clear that he will not make it to the games against Spain and Georgia.

“It is better that he receives medical follow-up at the club, say’s national team doctor Ola Sand.

“Haaland thus travels home from the national team meeting.”

City face Liverpool next in the league on April 1, before travelling to Southampton the following weekend. They then welcome Bayern Munich to the Etihad for the first leg of their UCL quarter-final on April 11.
