Newcastle United top four odds have shortened once again, with the Magpies now priced at 7/4 after an important 2-1 win over Wolves.

Eddie Howe’s side have been in and around the Premier League‘s top four all season, but have seen themselves drop off slightly in recent weeks. However, a return to winning ways was a huge boost for the North East side.

The Magpies came into the game searching for their first win since the end of January. They’d lost their last three in a row up until today, picking up a much-needed three points.

Aleksander Isak opened the scoring for the home side, as the Swedish striker headed home from a pinpoint Kieron Trippier cross. It was an impeccable header from the former Real Sociedad man, putting his side 1-0 up.

It was a closely contested affair for the most part of the game, and Wolves made a triple substitution with around 20 minutes to play.

Hwang Hee-Chan was one of those to come on, and within less than a minute, the South Korean forward levelled the scores up at 1-1. He capitalised on a mix-up between Trippier and Nick Pope, resulting in Hwang to tap the ball home under little pressure.

Around 10 minutes later, and Eddie Howe’s side were back in front. Miguel Almiron came off the bench to score a superb goal, which was his 11th of the season. He’d been on a slight goal-drought in recent weeks, but the winning goal at St James’ Park will give him some much needed confidence going into the closing stages of the season.

The win ultimately revived Newcastle’s top four hopes, as they leap-frogged Liverpool up into fifth place. The Reds were dealt a blow after losing 1-0 to relegation battlers Bournemouth on Saturday.
