The 5lb claimer has a wide draw to overcome on Ed Walker’s HAFEET ALAIN in the Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton today (2.05) but this hold-up performer needs to be tucked in anyway and stall 12 is perhaps not the disadvantage that the market perceives. The seven-year-old could never strike a blow when just 9-2 for this race last year, trailing home in ninth place, but he’s 7lb lower and about three times the price today. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

SANDOWN 2.25
DOUBLE NUMBER OF WINNER
It’s going to be gruelling stuff at Sandown today should the course pass a morning inspection and the angle in the feature race – the Imperial Cup Handicap Hurdle (2.25) – is to side with the lowly-weighted runners. This race tends to go to a horse ridden patiently and with two of the market leaders – PLAYFUL SAINT (no.4) and GIVEGA (no.5) ridden prominently last time the case for opposing the low racecard numbers looks even stronger. Buy DOUBLE NUMBER OF WINNER with Spreadex. Fixed odds punters might wish to consider backing MONVIEL (no.13) each-way.

COCO JAMBOO
Since the spring of 2016, had we backed all three or four-year-old all-weather handicappers trained by Marco Botti who were returning from a break of at least 40 days we’d have found 45 winners from 233 bets (19.3% strike-rate) and made a very healthy profit of £117.91 to a £1 level stake at SP. Botti’s three-year-old COCO JAMBOO, a winner on turf at Newmarket in late September when we last saw her, has been nibbled at in the overnight betting and has finished in the frame in all five career outings.
