Fabrizio Romano has ranked as the tenth most influential account on social media app Twitter based on social capital from a study by Notus.

Dubbed the ‘Notable Clout drop,’ Notus have ranked the top 100 most influential Twitter accounts on the platform and Fabrizio Romano ranks tenth with a social cap score of 1.1 billion.

Social cap is a Notus metric that ‘represents how much influence an individual has based on who, how and when others engage with them.’

Romano’s content performs 79.2x better than other Twitter users with a similar level of following.

Since joining in July 2011, Romano has amassed over 14 million followers on Twitter and is widely regarded as the biggest source for football news today.

The 30-year-old from Naples, Italy has worked for Sky Sport and currently reports for The Guardian and CBS Sports, based in Milan.

Romano found his break at age 17, still living with his parents and exclusively reported Mauro Icardi’s transfer from Barcelona B to Sampdoria after his agent contacted Romano looking him to write a number of articles about Icardi.

A year later at age 18, Romano again exclusively revealed Icardi’s high-profile transfer to Inter Milan and has been known as a transfer expert ever since.

Romano’s tweet revealing the death of Brazilian footballing legend Pele was his biggest of the year, tallying over 500,000 likes and 100,000 retweets – reaching an audience that no football journalist has been able to before.

Romano confirming Casemiro’s move from Real Madrid to Manchester United in August 2022 was liked over 430,000 times and remains his biggest exclusive to date.
