Erik ten Hag has given an important Manchester United team news update, as his side prepare to face Spaniards Real Betis in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Dutchman revealed that Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer will be unavailable for the game at Old Trafford. He still awaits his first minutes in the Europa League for his new side.

It’s United’s first game since their bitter 7-0 defeat to Liverpool at the weekened. After that result, we could see Ten Hag change the starting XI up slightly, however we won’t know until an hour before kick-off if that’s set to be the case.

Ten Hag Manchester United Team News Comments

“We have a strong programme.

“But I think we are quite good. The only disappointment is Marcel Sabitzer is not available, as well as Anthony Martial.

“Anthony Martial is back on the pitch, so we will see. For the rest, everyone is available and we are ready for the game.”

Ten Hag’s comments suggest that Victor Lindelof is ready to return to the squad, after being absent against Liverpool. Also, Casemiro appears to be fine, amid reports that the Brazilian had been carrying a knock recently.

Long-term absentees Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek both remained sidelined due to injury.

Martial sounds as if he is close to a return to the pitch, which is positive news. He’s played just over 700 minutes this season, and his last start came in the Manchester derby back in mid-January. The French forward has spent most of this season in the injury room, due to hamstring, Achilles, back and hip issues.
