Ahead of their Champions League second-leg tie this evening, we’ve taken a look at the squad values of Tottenham and AC Milan and have come up with the most expensive combined XI based on the players’ market values.

This evening, Tottenham host AC Milan in the second-leg of their last-16 UEFA Champions League tie.

Milan came out on top last time, as Brahim Diaz netted in the 7th minute to secure a 1-0 first-leg victory at the San Siro.

Both sides come into this one off the back of disappointing league defeats.

In their last match, Spurs were defeated by relegation-battlers Wolves as Adama Traore netted a late winner for the hosts.

Milan’s defence of the Serie A title looks almost certain to be over after their recent defeat. Last time out, Stefano Pioli’s side were defeated 2-1 by bottom half Fiorentina – a result that leaves them 18 points adrift of league-leaders Napoli.

Ahead of this evening’s tie, we have priced up the market values of both squads, and have created the most expensive combined XI based on the players’ valued, per Transfermarkt.

Formation: 3-4-3

Goalkeeper: Mike Maignan (£35m)

Valued at £35m, Milan’s Mike Maignan starts in goal for the combined XI. Hugo Lloris (£7m) misses out on a place in the XI, as well as the tie due to injury, pipped to lineup by his compatriot.

Centre-Backs: Pierre Kalulu (£35m), Cristian Romero (£60m) & Fikayo Tomori (£50m)

Two Milan defenders, and one Spurs defender forms our backline. Pierre Kalulu starts on the right hand side of the three, with Cristian Romero in the middle, and Fikayo Tomori on the left. They earn a spot in our XI ahead of Eric Dier (£30m), Davinson Sanchez (£25m), Ben Davies (£20m), Clement Lenglet (£12m) and Matteo Gabbia (£7m).

Right Wing-Back: Emerson Royal (£30m)

It’s Spurs’ Emerson Royal that starts in the right wing-back position. Royal is valued higher than his teammate Pedro Porro (£25m), as well as Davide Calabria (£25m), Sergino Dest (£16m) and Alexis Saelemaekers (£15m).

Midfielders: Sandro Tonali (£50m) & Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg (£45m)

The midfield pairing sees a player apiece for each team, with Sandro Tonali and Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg pulling the strings in the middle of the park. They earn a place in our lineup ahead of Rodrigo Bentancur (£40m), Ismael Bennacer (£40m), Yves Bissouma (£32m) and Tommaso Pobega (£18m).

Left Wing-Back: Theo Hernandez (£60m)

Frenchman Theo Hernandez is our left wing-back, valued at £60m. This sees Ryan Sessegnon (£22m), Ivan Perisic (£10m) and Fode Ballo-Toure (£3.5m) omitted from the combined XI.

Hernandez has consistently been one of Milan’s top performers, and has even become a regular in the French national side.

Right-Winger: Heung Min-Son (£70m)

Heung Min-Son gets the nod to start on the right wing. The South Korean starts ahead of Milan’s Charles De Ketelaere (£30m) and Brahim Diaz (£20m), as well as Spurs’ Dejan Kulusevski (£50m) and Lucas Moura (£12m).

Left-Winger: Rafael Leao (£85m)

Our left-winger is the squad’s second most expensive player Rafael Leao, valued at £85m. Leao earns a spot in the lineup ahead of the likes of Ante Rebic (£13m) and Arnaut Danjuma (£35m).

Leao currently has 19 G/A in all competitions this season. The Portuguese forward has netted on nine occasions, and has assisted 10 goals.

Striker: Harry Kane (£90m)

And our striker, who else but Spurs icon Harry Kane. Valued at £90m, Kane is one of the most valuable forwards in the world.

With 20 goals and four assists this term, Kane gets into our lineup ahead of Richarlison (£55m), Olivier Giroud (£4m), Divock Origi (£10m) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (£2m).

Combined XI Value: £610m
