Rachael Blackmore With Three Rides on Cheltenham Day 1
Rachael Blackmore was crowned the Champion Jockey of the Year back in 2021 for her mesmerising performance at the Cheltenham Festival. She won a staggering six races, including a second and third place finish too. This year, she will be hoping to replicate that form with a stellar showing at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.
On Day 1, Rachael Blackmore has three rides on Tuesday 14th March. These rides include Honeysuckle, who is unbeaten around the Cheltenham track. She features in the Mares’ Hurdle at 4.10pm and is current the favourite to win the race for a second time after connections opted to not go for another Champion Hurdle.
Blackmore, who also won the 2022 Gold Cup with A Plus Tard, also has two more rides on day one along with Honeysuckle.
She’s also got Inthepocket for trainer Henry De Bromhead in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle (1:30) and Bad in the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle (4:50).
Blackmore is priced at 10/1 with leading bookmaker Paddy Power to be the 2023 Cheltenham Festival Champion Jockey.

What Horses Is Rachael Blackmore Riding On Day 1 Of The 2023 Cheltenham Festival?
Tuesday 14th March 2023
INTHEPOCKET (Supreme Novices’ Hurdle): @ 11/1 with Paddy Power
Last seen running second in the Ireland Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown and before that had caught the eye in winning both previous starts. Facile Vega and Marine Nationale look the main players in the Festival curtain raiser but Rachel Blackmore has solid-looking each-way chance here. The horse would be trainer Henry De Bromhead’s first Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner. While Inthepocket’s owner JP McManus will be looking for his first win since Captain Cee Bee in 2008.
HONEYSUCKLE (Mares’ Hurdle): @ 3/1 with Paddy Power
Honeysuckle is bidding to maintain her perfect record at Cheltenham by winning a second Mares’ Hurdle on Day 1. She is the 5/2 favourite for that race after connections opted not to go back for another Champion Hurdle with the best Cheltenham odds.
We all know the Honeysuckle and Blackmore combo is hard to beat, so this 9-year-old goes in as the favourite to win her second Mares’ Hurdle and looks hard to beat here over the 2m 4f distance.
BAD (Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle): @ 8/1 with Paddy Power
Interesting jockey booking here as Blackmore’s services have been snapped up by UK trainer Ban Pauling. This French-bred horse is having his debut run in this country so it’s hard to assess the form. However, Bad has had three runs in France and is yet to finish out of the first two – winning easily last time. There should be more to come and has been kept fresh for this with 114 days off.
