Graham Potter’s latest Chelsea injury update has done little to dispel the rumours over several players’ return to action, and their midweek clash with Borussia Dortmund could come too soon for several recent absentees.
Chelsea will by vying to overturn a 1-0 deficit when they welcome Borussia Dortmund to West London on Tuesday night, after Karim Adeyemi’s first-leg solo effort was enough to hand the Germans the advantage.
Safe passage to the Champions League quarter-finals would provide a much needed temporary safe-guard for Graham Potter, whose position at the helm remains somewhat tenuous after failing to galvanise one of the most expensive teams ever assembled.
However, the Blues boss may be without several key figures for this second leg, with the Englishmen failing to declare with confidence the match fitness of both Reece James and N’Golo Kante.
The former was rested in their slender 1-0 victory against Leeds over the weekend due to a minor hamstring injury, while the latter has been sidelined for near-enough the entirety of Chelsea’s season, having last featured against Tottenham way back in August of last year.

However, Potter’s latest Chelsea injury update suggests we will see former Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic return to the squad for the first time in over two months.
“Reece [James], we will make a decision on tomorrow. Christian [Pulisic] is in the squad. He’s trained, and training well, and looking good.
“N’Golo [Kante], it is too soon for him. He has had two full training sessions so too soon. But he is looking good so we are going to continue that progress.
“It’s a complex one with him because he has had a long time out. It’ll be a case of how we get him back up to speed to play Premier League or Champions League football.
“He won’t be able to go back in for 90 minutes any time soon but the fact he is with us is exciting.”
